Laktis

Practice management software for South African surgical practices.

Laktis replaces the spreadsheets, paper files and ad-hoc messaging that private practices use to run patient administration — with one system that holds the record, produces the documents, and keeps the billing information intact.

What the software does

Laktis is used by the staff of a surgical practice, not by the public. It covers the administrative work that surrounds a consultation or a procedure:

Who it is for

Private surgical practices in South Africa, typically one to three practitioners with supporting administrative staff. Laktis is sold to the practice as a monthly subscription. It is not a medical device, does not provide clinical decision support, and does not replace a practice's billing bureau or medical aid submission process.

Handling of patient information

Laktis processes personal information on behalf of the practices that use it. Each practice remains the responsible party for its own patient records under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013. Laktis operates as an operator under that Act and processes patient information only on the practice's instruction.

Patients communicate with the practice through Laktis only where they have given consent for that contact, and can withdraw it at any time by telling the practice. Our privacy policy sets out what we collect, why, and how to reach us about it.

Current status

Laktis is in pilot with a private surgical practice in Gauteng. We are not currently taking new practices on self-service sign-up; onboarding is arranged directly. If you run a practice and want to know more, get in touch at the address below.
